Sustainable Cities and Communities

The Plant Genetic Conservation Project Center, under the royal initiative of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, was established to develop personnel with knowledge in conserving and developing local plant or animal genetic resources.

The centre has operated in response to His Majesty the King's initiative by establishing a centre for the study of nature and the environment, collection of local plants, and medicinal plants, including rare plants in Kamphaeng Phet Province and nearby provinces.

The university has developed the botanical garden to be a source of learning for students and people in the community, a source for collecting local plant genetics for use in propagation and providing academic services to the public, and also creating a database system of local genetics. This centre has also created a walking path to explore the plants and ecosystems in the botanical garden, making it open and accessible at all times.
