Water Storage Dams for Sustainable Ecosystems

Life On Land

Khao Krok Pla Kang, Ban Khlong Luek, Songtham sub-district, and Mueang District, Kamphaeng Phet faces the problem of forest deterioration caused by the expansion of farmland. The problem has led to deforestation, forest fires, and landslides. The deterioration in soil quality and decrease in the fertility, results in poor water absorption ability. Shortage of water is another consequence of deforestation. To prevent the situation from getting worse and restore the balance to the environment, community leaders and villagers get together to construct additional water storage dams. Given the vast expanse of the forest, faculty and students of the Finance and Accounting programs in collaborative with the people of Ban Thung Suan, Nakhon Chum Subdistrict, partnered with external agencies, consisting of the Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC), the Royal Thai Army, Task Force 35, and the Royal Thai Army 35, to jointly construct a water storage dam on May 11, 2022.
