Sustainable Cities and Communities

The university has set guidelines for the design of new buildings or building renovations to take into account the use of energy in a respectful manner. The guidelines for the construction of green buildings are used as the main guidelines for designing works within the university. 

There is also the preservation of Thai architectural styles. The university has the Kamphaeng Phet Provincial Museum Building, which is a source of learning about the arts and culture of Thailand and Kamphaeng Phet Province. The building is constructed according to the design of traditional Thai architecture that is in line with the climate in Thailand. This creates a sustainable coexistence of the building and the environment.

The university has analyzed the area within the university. It was found that there was an area that was left abandoned as an area used to store electrical equipment such as electric bulbs. The equipment is a type of hazardous waste. This should not be stored in a place close to the community. For the development of the area, the university by the Facilities Department has set guidelines for the development of the area. The construction plan for the Faculty of Nursing building from 2022 to 2023 has been prepared, and the construction project will start in 2024.

With the will to develop a learning center, the Energy Garden was then built to serve as the energy learning center not only for students but also for the local community. The building was constructed on undeveloped land and is intended to be mixed-use between residential, business, and recreational areas with an adequate amount of green space. The building also applies sustainable concepts to architectural design. The KPRU Energy Garden also has a smart farming and smart office model which primarily uses solar energy in order to reduce the power cost and to promote sustainable energy efficiency.

Sustainable Cities and Communities

The university has not fully applied sustainable standards. However, several aspects of the standard have been used when buildings are designed and built. Those aspects include the use of standard lighting and air conditioning system, and light and wind exposure area standard. The Office of Academic Resource Information and Technology is a good construction model for natural lightning which we try to let them in instead of using the electricity.
