Enhancing the Wellness
The Faculty of Nursing set to develop the wellbeing of people of Wang Yang Community. Knowledge regarding basic healthcare is transferred. Lecturers and nursing students, therefore, organized a project called ‘healthcare promotion’ was launched through 2 sub-projects.
The Faculty of Nursing at Kamphaeng Phet Rajabhat University targeted the implementation of the community life quality improvement project in the following areas: Moo 1, Wang Yang Village, and Moo 9, Nakhon Chum Subdistrict, Mueang District, Kamphaeng Phet Province. This project aimed to promote health care, develop knowledge and capabilities regarding self-care and care for others within the community. The 2 activities were conducted by faculty members, staff, and nursing students in 2023.
Activity 1: Promoting Health Care
This activity consisted of two sub-activities:
Sub-project 1: A Training Course on Adult Nursing was organized on November 22, 2023. This addressed common health problems such as diabetes and explored innovations in diabetes care, including proper medication use, foot care to prevent complications, and correct dietary practices.
Sub-project 2: A workshop was conducted on March 18-19, 2023, where students delivered knowledge regarding health promotion and diabetes care.
Activity 2: Developing Knowledge and Care Skills
This activity included three sub-activities:
Sub-Activity 1: Training for Personnel
On July 22-23, 2023, second-year nursing students and community leaders participated in the first training session to strengthen leadership abilities in health self-care based on Orem’s Nursing Theory. The second session, held on August 12, 2023, provided training on CPR and basic first aid skills. The third session involved a study tour to Nam Bua Model Community in Na Bua Subdistrict, Nakhon Thai District, Phitsanulok Province.
Sub-Activity 2: Integration with Adult Nursing Theory and Processes Course
On August 5, 2023, students and community leaders assessed the self-care deficiencies of the community. On August 13, 2023, they provided knowledge and skills for assisting elderly people in need of care within the community.
Sub-Activity 3: Project Evaluation
On August 14, 2023, students and community leaders exchanged knowledge and evaluated the success of the integration and application of knowledge.
The total number of participants in the activities was 575 people: 287 students, 78 staff members, and 210 community members.
